How do you solve a problem like Ellen? How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand? These are questions often asked by those who come into contact with me in life. The answer is I don’t know. Another thing I don’t know is how to blog. I have read every guide to starting a blog I could find and I have one thing to say: I hate them all. Every guide starts off insisting you need to find a niche and stick to it. But the thing is I have no clue what my niche is and with many blogs the niche changes overtime. So what I’m saying is I have no clue what I want to blog about, or if I even want to blog at all (I still don’t know why I’m doing this). And because I have no idea what I want to blog about I don’t have a niche. Please still like and subscribe people, I need validation, I’m a run of the mill millennial, what can I say?
I was born and raised in a small town called Buncrana in County Donegal, Ireland. When I was seventeen my parents shipped me off on a bus to the Big Shmoke aka Dublin for college. I studied general science for my undergraduate and in my third year I chose to specialise in geology. I adored the subject and it introduced me to my love of travelling. We got the opportunity to travel a lot with our degree both throughout Ireland and throughout Europe. I graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2019 and landed a job as a geophysicist with a small Irish company. My job gives me the option to travel throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom whenever the opportunity arises. I have been to some really cool places but I have also been to some towns that I never want to set foot in again.
Because I’m a millennial by default I have to love avocado toast (don’t @ me boomers, I don’t want to buy a house anyway and no, I’m not crying). It’s not just avocado toast though, I LOVE food. Just buy me a snack and I will be your best friend (Not baked beans though, I cannot stomach them, they are the seeds of the devil). I love going out to eat and trying new things. What’s my favourite food? Well it depends on the day: on Monday it is a spicy Indian or Nepalese curry, Thursdays were made for beef in black been sauce, and on Sunday I love my Mammy’s roast dinner.
Other things I like include but are not limited to:
- Geology and geophysics
- Coffee
- Tea, specifically Barry’s gold blend – Irish followers if you’re a Lyons tea drinker stop reading now, we won’t get along
- Bullet Journalling – That’s right, I enjoy the same hobbies as a 13 year old girl
- Shopping for anything, I don’t discriminate
- A creamy pint of Guinness
- Instagram and can I just say if you don’t like instagram you either don’t know how to use it or you are lying
- Going on walks on the beach, through the city, anywhere really
- Travelling and exploring new cities
- Reading
- Musicals – watching them, singing along to them, making tik tok parodies of them.
Well that’s about it. I still don’t know how to solve a problem like Ellen or how to hold a moonbeam in my hand and I still haven’t figured out how to write conclusions after 18 years of schooling. Leave a comment below to let me know why you’re still here. Really I would love to know, even when I asked my parents to proofread this post they didn’t make it this far.
